Special Administrators for the Estate of Michael Jackson, John Branca and John McClain, and Sony Music will continue the label's 30-year relationship with Michael Jackson and his music with a landmark recording deal, it was announced today.
With this new agreement, Sony Music's Columbia Epic Label Group and Legacy Recordings will continue their term of rights to his catalog and also create new projects for Michael Jackson featuring the never-before-released Jackson recordings. The first project featuring unreleased music is expected for release in November 2010.
As a solo artist with Epic Records spanning three decades, Michael has sold hundreds of millions of records worldwide and released thirteen #1 singles. Jackson became one of a handful of artists to be inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, won 13 Grammy Awards and received the American Music Award's Artist of the Century Award. Sony's Legacy Recordings has also created a number of successful projects such as the "Thriller" 25th anniversary album. The best selling album of all time worldwide by wide margin, "Thriller" showed the lasting power of Michael's music by returning to #1 on the weekly sales charts in 2008.
This past fall, Sony Music released the #1 two-disc album companion to the motion picture Michael Jackson's This is It " which has sold over 5 million copies worldwide. Released by Sony Pictures, the film made history as the highest grossing concert film of all time and the recently released DVD took the #1 spot in DVD sales, breaking the record for first-week's sales of a music film.

In late October 2009, The GRAMMY Museum unveiled its special exhibit, Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy. Residing on the Museum's fourth floor, the exhibit serves as a follow-up to the earlier Michael Jackson: HIStyle exhibit, which opened in February 2009, and the temporary memorial display, erected just after the King of Pop's passing.
"The overwhelming response to our earlier exhibits speaks to Jackson's unparalleled place in music history and the public's deep connection to his music," said Executive Director Robert Santelli. First arena touring show slated for late 2011
Las Vegas permanent show to open in 2012
Los Angeles (April 20, 2010) – Two great forces in entertainment have combined with the announcement of an unprecedented arrangement between The Estate of Michael Jackson, represented by Executors John Branca and John McLain, and Cirque du Soleil for the creation, development, production and promotion of Michael Jackson projects, featuring touring and permanent shows, based on the music and songs of Michael Jackson. Special lifestyle projects, including a nightclub to open with the Las Vegas production, will also be developed.
The first of these projects will be an arena-touring show in which fans will experience the excitement of a Michael Jackson concert, expected to debut in late Fall 2011. That arena show is anticipated to enjoy an extended run in Las Vegas in conjunction with longtime Cirque du Soleil partner MGM MIRAGE. The Las Vegas permanent show, also in partnership with MGM MIRAGE, is expected to open in late 2012. MGM MIRAGE will announce the location and plans for the permanent theatrical venue at a later date.

Michael Jackson Inducted Into Apollo Walk Of Fame in NYC
Michael Jackson is apart of the first class of entertainers to be honored with stars on a new Walk Of Fame site outside of New York's Apollo Theatre.
Along with the King of Pop Michael Jackson, others to be honored will be The Godfather of Soul James Brown, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Aretha Franklin , Little Richard and Ella Fitzgerald.
The plaques were installed this week for everyone except Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin. Jackson and Franklin's plaques will be unveiled in June with the Gala Benefit.
Each year at the non-profit Theater's Spring Gala Benefit, legendary musicians, artists, and entertainers whose path to fame included the Apollo are inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame.

Michael Jackson's Estate Heads to Japan

From the 24k gold engraved Neverland gate sign from Jackson's California estate to a sampling of his most recent industry awards, some of the most cherished personal possessions of The King of Pop will be on display at the Tokyo Tower just in time for the Golden Week Holiday April 29th. More than 280 estate owned items make up "MICHAEL JACKSON -The Official LIFETIME Collection", including the singers 1967 Rolls Royce Phantom, antique piano, and costumes from the 3D "Thiller" video shot for Jackson's "THIS IS IT" tour.
The only "official" Michael Jackson exhibition in the world to directly benefit the estate and Jackson's children, The Lifetime Collection reveals items that have been stored in Michael's vaults. The collection is expected to excite and draw fans from all over Asia for a rare look at many of Jackson's iconic stage and video costumes, props, industry awards, and the largest collection of crystal-encrusted gloves worn by the singer ever put on public display.
Since Michael Jackson's passing, the spontaneous outpouring of support from Japanese fans has sent Jackson back to the top of the charts. The documentary film "Michael Jackson's This Is It" has set new box office records and has become Japan's all time best selling DVD.
Only weeks away from the Japanese "Golden Week" holiday, local Japanese producers have joined with the Tokyo Tower to open up space for the unprecedented exhibition. All five tons of the famous "Neverland" gate sign that only months ago stood in front of the sprawling estate will mark the entrance of the exhibition at the Tokyo Tower.
The Tokyo Tower will show its colors in tribute to the late singer with special lighting throughout the duration of the exhibition expected to run for eight weeks. Produced by the original creative team from Juliana's Tokyo, the legendary Japanese mega-club of Japan's economic boom days in the 90's, the Tokyo Tower plans to stay open until 10:00pm each night to make the Lifetime Collection an entertaining once-in-a-life-time experience for fans.
"Holding the exhibition at the Tokyo Tower is the greatest tribute to Michael Jackson that Japan can give" said local event producer John Robinson, of Juliana's Urban Development Group. "It is the most photographed and televised icon in Tokyo, an appropriate place to celebrate Michael's life." MJ's hometown moves ahead with museum plans
GARY, Ind. — Work could begin next year on a $300 million museum and arts center dedicated to Michael Jackson in his hometown, his father and Gary officials announced Wednesday.
The late singer last visited Gary in 2003 to talk about the project, but no progress was made on it before his death last year. His father, Joe Jackson, said Wednesday that he was "just carrying out his legacy" by getting involved.
"This is a happy day for me because this is something that my family and Michael have always wanted," Joe Jackson said. "We're bringing something back."
Gary Mayor Rudy Clay said the project would create thousands of jobs and, when finished, was expected to bring at least 750,000 visitors a year to the city. He estimated it would generate $100 million to $150 million in income for the community each year.
"This project will be the magnet that will draw people from all over the world," Clay said.
The money to build the Jackson Family Museum and Hotel and the Michael Jackson Performing Arts and Cultural Center and Theaters will come from investors and donations, Clay said.
After years of promises about the project but no action, residents were cautiously optimistic. People said they were hopeful because Wednesday's announcement was the furthest along the project has ever come, with the city's donation of 300 acres of land.
Police Chief Gary O. Carter was impressed by Joe Jackson's presence.
"Why would he come all the way here if it wasn't" going to happen, Carter said.
Seretha Harvey, 24, grew up in Gary and said she hoped the project would happen, and that it would bring jobs and help change people's image of the financially struggling city.
"I've been in and out of Gary for the past few years, and I've seen it deteriorate. I'm worried about whether this is actually going to matriculate," she said, but added, "I'm optimistic about it."

и статусу "официальный" вполне соответствует... дык и притом ведь Майкл для всех пока еще "мертв" значит и сайт должен поддерживать эту версию,раз официальный. А на сайте ведь большинство неверующих,и можно только представить их реакцию,если вдруг сайт "забабахают"

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" became an all-time classic superstar release in 1982, so much that the music video's zombie dance is associated with Halloween to this day. Michael’s Entire Video Library Is Coming ….
Just in time for holiday gift-giving, Epic/Legacy Recordings is releasing the entire library of Michael Jackson‘s videos on a four-DVD set. “Michael Jackson’s Vision,” which will arrive Nov. 22, features 4 1/2 hours of material, including a video for the song “One More Chance” that was never released.
The set will of course include his best-known videos — for songs such as “Billie Jean,” “Bad,” and “Thriller” — as well as videos for songs by the Jackson 5. The price of the set has not been announced.

Дезинформация! Не четырех, а трех дисковый бокс. Официальную ссылку Sony я указал постом выше. Кроме того, этот digipack будет содержать книжку из 60 страниц, а на dvd мы обнаружим 42 клипа и восстановленные короткометражные фильмы, 10 из них не были доступны на dvd прежде и один абсолютно неизданный (One more chance).
Впервые столько клипов Майкла Джексона будут собраны в одной коробке.

Carlos Santana Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson
At his recent concert at London's O2 Arena, Carlos Santana dedicated the show to Michael Jackson, calling the King of Pop an "archangel," according to reports by Bloomberg News and the London Evening Standard newspaper. Santana, one of the world's greatest guitarists, is one of many artists who have paid respect to Michael in concert tours during the past year. Michael had been scheduled to perform in residency at the O2 Arena for the "This Is It" concerts, making Santana's dedication all the more poignant.

The first official single from MICHAEL is available for streaming now. The song entitled “Hold My Hand”, a duet with Akon, is a song they recorded in 2007. A handwritten note from Michael belonging to his Estate indicated his desire that “Hold My Hand” be the first single on his next project. However, in its unfinished state, the song leaked out in 2008. Akon recently completed the new and final production of “Hold My Hand.” On December 14th, Epic Records in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release the much-anticipated new album MICHAEL. The album contains ten tracks, produced by an esteemed group of producers along with Michael Jackson. While primarily focused on songs that Michael worked on recently, there are also earlier compelling tracks.

Casting Call for the “Hold My Hand” Music Video!
We are excited to give fans the opportunity to be a part of the video for Michael’s latest hit, "HOLD MY HAND," filming this Saturday, November 20th in Tustin, CA (approximately 35 miles south of Los Angeles). We are looking for his fans of all ages who want to be a part of this iconic event.
There is no pay, but it will be a fun and celebratory video honoring Michael Jackson's legacy. You will get to freestyle dance and enjoy the song. The time we would need everyone is approximately 12P-5P. Unfortunately, we have to put a cap on the number of extras who will be able to participate, so please reply as soon as you know you can participate.

The first official single from MICHAEL is available for streaming now. The song entitled “Hold My Hand”, a duet with Akon, is a song they recorded in 2007. A handwritten note from Michael belonging to his Estate indicated his desire that “Hold My Hand” be the first single on his next project. However, in its unfinished state, the song leaked out in 2008. Akon recently completed the new and final production of “Hold My Hand.” On December 14th, Epic Records in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release the much-anticipated new album MICHAEL. The album contains ten tracks, produced by an esteemed group of producers along with Michael Jackson. While primarily focused on songs that Michael worked on recently, there are also earlier compelling tracks.

In the new video, the Pantages Theater once again becomes the setting for the clip’s spectacular closing but this time they are outside the theater for a “flash mob” dance scene.

On May 13th Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid. After mining by the Estate of Jackson's archives, Reid was granted unlimited access to the treasures spanning four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals. Reid then teamed up top producers to "contemporize" the songs while retaining Jackson's essence and integrity, creating the best music you've never heard. The list of producers include global hitmakers Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain.
The new album will feature eight brand new recordings. A Deluxe Edition of XSCAPE will include a selection of the recordings in their original form. Both the standard and Deluxe Edition's are available April 1st for pre-order on iTunes, Amazon and MichaelJackson.com.
The title of this album honors Michael's album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project.
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said, "Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."

This clip from the documentary provides a glimpse of some of the live footage included in the documentary – both from The Destiny Tour and The Triumph Tour. Повторюсь и процитирую себя
В начале превью к фильму (Olgeya, благодарю за гифку!!!) с удивлением обнаружила самую раннюю версию из доступных знаменитого приема, используемого Майклом на протяжении всего времени своей сценической деятельности, а именно, движущейся над толпой платформы. Т.е. уже в 79 году он летал над залом, пусть в классическом костюме с бабочкой, как пай мальчик, но все же... Ветры в одежде, крики, драйв.
Дальше картинками о том, как номер рос и развивался.

P.S. Интересно, что сам The Weeknd ни разу не артист сони, лейбл на кот.он пишется, принадлежит Universal Music Group. Зачем юниверсалам двигать стиль музыкальный, вокальный, танцевальный, явно навеянный творчеством МД - хороший вопрос.

Но очень уж профессиональная утечка на ведущий канал тюбика да еще и с поддержкой таблоида, наводит на мысль скорее не о краже новой песни, а о рекламном маркетинговом шаге. Адель бедного Бибера обходит во всех чартах.
Вот так сони, если хочет - может и слить и тут же заблокировать любую свою собственность.
Меня лично всегда смешили разговоры про то, какой Бранка недотепа не может бороться с утечками добра.

Спайк Ли на самом популярном в США утреннем шоу канала ABC Good Morning America болтает о новом фильме MICHAEL JACKSON'S Journey from Motown to Off The Wall, премьера которого состоится на канале SHOWTIME 5 февраля 2016 года. После показа по ТВ, 26 февраля фильм выйдет в продажу на CD/DVD и CD/Blu-ray. Паровозом к нему сделают в комплекте ремастеринг альбома Off The Wall.

Это все прекрасные новости - сюрпризы явно предусмотрены, посмотрим с удовольствием.
Но вот мне подумалось... Так же Спайк Ли делал BAD25 - комплект идентичный (кино плюс ремастеринг). И меня этот факт навел на мысль о давней информации от 2010 года о рекордном контракте, который заключил Бранка с Сони: 200-250 миллионов, семь лет и, как помню я лично, 8 проектах за этот период. Сейчас интернет упорно выдает эту новость, как семь лет и 10 альбомов. Я признаю, что с памятью у меня плохо, а с фантазией великолепно, особенно прекрасно в моем мозгу себя чует надежда... В связи с этим, взываю к разумным людям, которые ориентируются в теме бизнеса и могут притащить первоначальную версию распространяемой информации по контракту - дайте то, что мы читали тогда! Вот просто принципиально интересно понять, посчитать и перечислить реализованные проекты Естейта и Сони за прошедшие годы.
